Pregnancy Cravings: The Healthy Edition

When I was pregnant, I didn't crave big wedges of chocolate cake, ice cream eaten straight out of the tub, tee hee, or a rare piece of meat. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I don't have a sweet tooth -- just last night I popped M&M after M&M into my mouth while watching TV in bed. I also LOVE cheesecake topped with fresh berries and could eat a steak frites at least once a week (okay, twice a week!).

Well not during my pregnancy! My body, my baby craved ...

Fresh crisp salads topped with cucumbers, shredded cheddar (a yummy way to sneak some much-needed vitamin D into your pregnancy diet!), and sun-dried tomatoes. I could eat whole watermelons (packed with vitamin B, which provides energy!) in one sitting, I swear. I chewed on green olives (a great source of vitamin E, the body's primary fat-soluble antioxidant) at midnight, not anything from the cookie jar. Why, oh, why did I nosh on these foods?
