Photo by jenlibr8dBaby showers can be a lot of fun, but if you've already got a house full of baby goods or your wallet is especially plum this year, you don't have to miss out.
Some people are turning the traditional baby shower into a benefit for moms who aren't lucky enough to have good friends with disposable income.
Called the "bun in the oven benefit," there's one slated for May in Seattle, and a friend sent an announcement my way.
According to the release, the couple in question decided to give their gifts to a local domestic violence shelter (hence the benefit), but they didn't want to forgo the chance to "have all our friends and family together."
Most of us actually need the stuff at our baby showers, and the huge cost of raising baby makes it hard for the average couple to consider this seriously.
How about turning the wishing well into a donations only section? Or simply taking your doubles to the domestic violence center yourself?
Have you ever been to a benefit baby shower?
