Join CafeMom in Saying #OurVoteCounts More Than Ever This Election

Is this presidential campaign EVER going to end? We know that's what you're thinking, and we get it. But now is not the time to throw in the towel. In fact, now is the time to make this election YOURS. It's time for women, as 51 percent (51 percent!) of the electorate, to get into that voting booth and make our voices heard. To help make that happen, CafeMom is partnering with editors of more than 50 magazines and digital communities (ones that speak to a diverse group of women of all ages, races, religions, and political affiliations) to spread the word that the female vote matters through the #OurVoteCounts campaign.

You may ask why this is still such an issue. We won the right to vote almost a hundred years ago, right? So, why now? Well, according to the Center for American Women and Politics, only 64 percent of women eligible to vote actually did so in 2012. And what's worse is that in the same year, only 45 percent of women ages 18 to 24 (you know, the millennials who have the most at stake when it comes to future policy) exercised this right.

And, well, we want to change that. For the next four years, the elected candidate will set the tone for the entire country. That means policy for health care, the gender pay gap, immigration, education, LGBT rights, gun control, climate change, and police reform. These are issues that affect women, moms, and families across America. So, why aren't women showing up to the polls?

There isn't an exact answer to that question. But there is a solution, and CafeMom is committed to becoming a part of it by reaching out to YOU (as part of more than 67 million women touched by this effort). We're pledging to help the #OurVoteCounts campaign (in partnership with Rock the Vote) to register at least 100,000 women -- especially young women -- to vote before it's too late.

That pledge starts now. It starts with you.

After all, who runs the world? Yep, it's us women. And, ladies, this is the time to change the world in whichever direction you choose. Now is the time to make sure you are a part of that process. You owe it to yourself. You owe it to your children. And if you want to have a say in the decisions that could be made now and in the future, then, as President Obama famously said at the Democratic National Convention, "Don't boo. Vote."

Every vote, your vote, matters. Simply put, #OurVoteCounts.

So please, please let your voice be heard, register to vote by your state's deadline, and then get out there to the polls. We'll see you there on November 8.
