11 Donald Trump Takedowns from the DNC That Had Us Cheering

After all the petty pomposity on display at the Republican National Convention, we knew (and hoped!) that the speakers at the Democratic National Convention would take the opportunity to slam Donald Trump and his hateful policies -- and we were not disappointed!

From celebrities to politicians, Hillary Clinton's supporters shut down Trump and his followers in so many ways ... and of course, Clinton herself had some tremendously inspiring anti-Trump words for the world, too.

  • Khizr Khan

In one of the most powerful moments of the DNC, Khizr Khan, the father of fallen Muslim US soldier Capt. Humayun Khan (who died in Iraq serving in the army), schooled Donald Trump on his knowledge of this country's founding principles, saying, "Let me ask you, have you even read the United States Constitution? I will gladly lend you my copy."

  • Michael Bloomberg

Love him or don't love him, former NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg hit the nail on the head when he called Trump a "dangerous demagogue," adding, "I'm a New Yorker, and New Yorkers know a con when we see one."

  • Joe Biden

In what will likely be fondly remembered forever as "The Malarkey Speech," Vice President Joe Biden called out Donald Trump's "cynicism" and "lack of empathy and compassion," adding, "He is trying to tell us he cares about the middle class. Give me a break. That is a bunch of malarkey."

    We're gonna miss you, Joe!

  • Elizabeth Banks

Not only did Elizabeth Banks brilliantly skewer Donald Trump's "over-the-top" (and unauthorized) RNC entrance to Queen's "We Are the Champions," but she also drew a clever comparison to her Hunger Games character:

“Some of you know me from The Hunger Games, in which I play Effie Trinket -- a cruel, out-of-touch reality TV star who wears insane wigs while delivering long-winded speeches to a violent dystopia. So when I tuned in to Cleveland last week, I was like, ‘Hey! That’s my act.’”

  • Barack Obama

President Barack Obama ripped apart Donald Trump's campaign slogan in the best way possible during his speech when he said, "America is already great. America is already strong. And I promise you, our strength, our greatness, does not depend on Donald Trump."

  • Lena Dunham & America Fererra

We're still cracking up over the way Lena Dunham and America Ferrera responded to Donald Trump's hateful comments about women and minorities: “My name is Lena Dunham, and according to Donald Trump, my body is probably a 2,” said Dunham; “My name is America Ferrera, and according to Donald Trump, I’m probably a rapist," said Ferrera

  • Cecile Richards

President of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund Cecile Richards made women everywhere stand up and cheer when she took on Trump's mind-blowing misogyny:

“Donald Trump has called women ‘fat pigs’ and ‘dogs.’ He wants to punish women for having abortions. And he says pregnancy is an ‘inconvenience’ for a woman’s employer.

“Well, Donald Trump, come November, women are going to be more than an inconvenience. We’re going to be the reason you’re not elected!"

  • Tim Kaine

Hillary Clinton's running mate had a field day with Trump's "believe me" catchphrase:

“Here’s the thing. Most people, when they run for president, they don’t just say ‘believe me,’” he said. “They respect you enough to tell you how they will get things done.

“Not Donald Trump. He never tells you how he’s going to do any of the things he says he’s going to do. He just says, ‘believe me.’ So here’s the question. Do you really believe him? Donald Trump’s whole career says you better not.”

  • Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar brought down the house with his delightfully snarky introduction: "I'm Michael Jordan, and I'm here with Hillary. I said that because I know Donald Trump couldn't tell the difference." (BRB, laughing too hard to type.)

  • Michelle Obama

There were many, many memorable moments in Michelle Obama's speech, but one of our favorites was when she slammed Donald Trump without even mentioning his name:

"Don't let anyone tell you that this country isn't great," she said. "This right now is the greatest country on earth."

  • Hillary Clinton

And, finally, the star of the DNC herself, Hillary Rodham Clinton, summed up everything that's wrong with Trump (and why a Trump presidency would be disastrous) in one line:

"A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man you can trust with nuclear weapons."
