Women Troll Indiana Governor With Period Problems After Anti-Abortion Law Is Passed

Tampon Heart

There are some cardinal rules when it comes to dealing with women -- they range from never asking if it's "that time of the month" to folks discussing matters relating to her body without any real regard for her. However, it's become abundantly clear that Governor Mike Pence missed that lesson before he decided to sign the latest anti-abortion law into existence, putting an extreme bill on the bodies of Indiana women. So now women everywhere have made it their responsibility to teach him a lesson by prank calling his office with the bloody details of their uterine dealings.

The women have been calling his office and leaving their messages on the Periods for Pence Facebook page, and while some of them are hilarious, others are real. The group has gained a following of over 15,000 since being anonymously created on March 28.

Many "as pro-life as they come" Republicans are even taking issue with the manipulative and shaming context of the bill, requiring women to drive to one of the four counties that provide clinics in Indiana (out of the 94 counties) in order to hear the baby's heartbeat prior to scheduling.

The worst part? Well, the worst part is that the bill will force women to cremate or inter the fetus, and it will force women to carry a disabled fetus or one formed through incest full term and against her will.

Representative Sean Eberhart -- a pro-life politician -- admitted when the bill was up before the Indiana House: "Today is a perfect example of a bunch of middle-aged guys sitting in this room making decisions about what we think is best for women."

Well, since the the governor thinks he knows so much about women, their bodies, and medicine in general, women are trying to call his bluff. The anonymous creator of the hilarious Facebook group (which is broaching a very serious subject) told The Indy Channel, "Women are posting, some are private message and just not asking me to share, they just want to communicate that they’re trying to make a difference."

And with their calls and emails, they're doing just that -- the members of this Facebook group are making sure they're finally heard, one way or another.

Good Morning, Indiana! (And distant lands, I see!) Your hoo-ha, here, giving you an update on the long awaited "Phase...

More from The Stir: Women Are Getting Misleading Information About Abortion -- but Here's the Truth

And, of course, it didn't take long before the movement took up residence on Twitter feeds everywhere. #PeriodsForPence

But, good news! This protest proves that women are no longer willing to let "a bunch of middle-aged" men dictate the innards of their body.

I would think the governor would want to hear the sweet voices of men calling in with their own uterus- and...
