'One Million Moms' Furious Over Magazine Featuring Adorable Family With Two Dads

Everyone's favorite fearmongering pearl-clutchers One Million Moms has its collective panties in a twist over a family that was featured in American Girl magazine -- all because the family featured two dads. The two dads are the parents of the amazingly adorable Amaya Scheer, who, along with her three siblings, previously lived in foster care. One Million Moms is calling for the boycott of American Girl magazine for featuring this happy family with two fathers

One Million Moms is urging its supporters to cancel their subscriptions to the magazine and to stop buying American Girl dolls after the company featured this family in the pages of the magazine. Amaya and her family were featured in the magazine showcasing the charity they founded, which supplies foster kids with backpacks filled with toiletries and clothing.

From the One Million Moms website:

American Girl is attempting to desensitize our youth by featuring a family with two dads. If your child has not seen this yet, then be careful she is not exposed and can avoid a premature conversation she is far too young to understand.

My own daughter subscribes to this magazine. I think her main concern would be why we don't start our own charity like this because foster kids need warm hats and gloves for winter.

It's sweet that the family has support from their friends and community at church, because they seem like truly wonderful people who love one another very much. Maybe One Million Moms should focus more on kids who need loving homes rather than those who already have them.
