Statistics show that approximately 1 in every 4 women has experienced domestic violence. Emma Murphy, a mother of two young children, is one of them. Murphy's powerful explanation about why she has chosen to leave her violent relationship has gone viral and is a heartbreaking and brave must-see.

Here, Murphy explains why she is leaving a violent realtionship after her partner assaulted her when confronted about his infidelity.

What Emma explains above is so much textbook gaslighting that many people in violent relationships experience. Being told that you're the "psycho" or the "crazy one" when you know something is going on and you confront the person you love with your suspicions and they in turn blame you. And sadly enough, this story gets worse because it sounds like one of her children witnessed this abuse.

Although he's only 18 months, he shouldn't have to see that. If it's not safe, you have to ... because more often than not, it will happen again.

It takes so much courage to come forward and and share your story publicly in hopes that it will help others. I hope Emma gets all the help and support and love she needs to heal after this ordeal. I also hope her partner is investigated for the abuse charges. Emma is so brave, and her kids deserve to grow up in a home where they aren't subjected to violence against their mother. I hope her video reaches others in the same situation and gives them the courage to say enough is enough.
