White House Celebrates Same Sex Marriage Ruling In Magical Way (PHOTO)

There was so much to be happy about yesterday -- our country has finally ruled in favor of equality, marriage equality for all. Love won, and it's about time, SCOTUS. In honor of the order, on Friday night, the White House was lit up in rainbow colors -- what I think are the most beautiful and fitting colors for the monumental ruling.

This is a powerful image. With everything that has been going on in the country lately -- the injustices, the failures, the acts of violence against people because of the color of their skin -- these colors show solidarity. They show that we, as a nation, believe in equal rights for all of our people, that we have to let love rule. Love conquers all. Every cliché about love suddenly has become important again.

Pride. That's what I have. That's what President Obama is urging us all to have. Pride in ourselves, our country, our fellow citizens.

Yesterday, when I first heard of the ruling that gay marriage was legal everywhere in the United States, tears welled up in my eyes. I believe in marriage, in love, in forming a union with someone you love deeply. I couldn't imagine how upset and frustrated I would feel if someone told me it was illegal for me to marry the man I love. As Justice Anthony M. Kennedy said, "No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were." We are Americans. We are the land of the free. Equal rights for all.
