Angelina Jolie Makes Powerful Humanitarian Speech, But Gets Treated Like a Pretty Little Thing

Angelina JolieWhen there are millions of lives on the line, the last thing that anyone would care about is whether or not a woman is pretty, right? Well, you know the answer to that one. Of course that's the only thing anyone cares about! In an astonishing display of sexist grotesquerie, the U.N. Ambassador to Syria reportedly listened to U.N. special envoy Angelina Jolie brief world powers on the horrible refugee situation in Syria, where women and children are living in purtrid and inhumane conditions. His response? "She's beautiful."

Angelina Jolie, who has been to refugee camps in Syria numerous times and seen the devastation first hand, briefed the U.N. Security Council and begged for them to get off their doffs and do something to help.

When asked about her briefing, Syria's U.N. Ambassador Bashar Ja'afari reportedly merely replied, "She's beautiful."

Are you kidding me??!!!

Yes, Ange is gorgeous but what in the sam hell does that have to do with anything? Beauty will not save babies from dying.

Jolie told the council:

We cannot look at Syria, and the evil that has arisen from the ashes of indecision, and think this is not the lowest point in the world's inability to protect and defend the innocent. It is sickening to see thousands of refugees drowning on the doorstep of the world's wealthiest continent.

Perhaps this man's idiotic comment should be applauded, considering that now Angelina Jolie's briefing will get the kind of attention it otherwise wouldn't if he had taken her seriously and had something thoughtful to say.

But there is something really wrong in a world where a woman's beauty is more interesting to a man than his own country's suffering.

If this is really all that Ja'afari had to say, he needs to really rethink his position. Perhaps he can manage a Hooters restaurant, seems like that might be more interesting to him.

Even if it wasn't all he had to say, he didn't need to say it at all.

What do you think of this?
