Washing Instructions on T-Shirt: 'Give This to Your Woman' (Yes, Seriously)

There used to be a time when washing clothes was solely the province of a woman -- and apparently Salvo Sports thinks that time is now. Washing instructions printed inside the shirts wore by an Indonesian soocer team, Pusamania Borneo, read like something out of a 1950s manual about how to be a good housewife.

Yep, that actually says, "Washing instructions: Give this jersey to your woman. It's her job."

The message is so wack that many young women on Twitter seem to assume it's just a joke. But considering this is the same country where women who want to join the national police have to take "virginity tests," well, methinks the washing instructions are just the tip of the iceberg for what women have to endure in Indonesia.

I mean, seriously, just listen to the company's "apology" for the sexist instructions. Salvo reportedly posted on Twitter:

The message is simply, instead of washing it in the wrong way, you might as well give it to a lady because they are more capable. There’s no intention to humiliate women. In contrast, [we want to tell the men] learn from women on [sic] how to take care of clothes because they pay attention to details.

Yep, that's what we women do! We just come out of the womb knowing how to suds up those clothes properly! I don't know about you, but as a toddler, I simply could not keep away from the washing machine. I was always offering -- no, demanding --  to wash everyone's clothes. As a teen, I also demanded that I do all everyone's baking and cleaning. Once, my boyfriend asked me if I'd like to go for a hike, and I was all, "Can't you see I'm ironing?!!"

Anyway, that apology was proof positive it wasn't a joke, or they would have said something like, "Erm, that was a joke!" Apparently, they really do believe that women have some sort of intrinsically superior clothes washing abilities.

Big FAIL on your "apology," Salvo.

And for the record, when my man hands me his dirty shirt, I take a nice whiff and say, "Ooh, smells all sweaty-manly, honey! Please remember to take my clothes too when you do your wash."

What do you think of these washing instructions?
