Woman in Labor Reportedly Blocked From Hospital for Obama Motorcade

Presidential MotorcadeIt's always kind of cool but also kind of a bummer when the President comes to town. Cool points awarded just for the fact that there's a slim chance you'll bump into the leader of the free world at Starbucks or something (or his Secret Service, more likely), but bummer because good luck trying to get across town.

Or across the street to the hospital, as the case may be. President Obama was in Los Angeles on Wednesday, and a laboring pregnant woman was reportedly prevented from crossing the street to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The road was blocked off because the presidential motorcade was going to come through.

One witness, Carrie Clifford, snapped a pic and tweeted about the situation:

Medical professionals in scrubs came out to help the woman while she waited to cross the street. "A few people in scrubs are there now," Clifford later tweeted. "Still no baby. Still no #Obama."

"I felt bad for her," Clifford told TheBlaze. "It does happen when Obama comes to L.A. or I'm sure anywhere else. It paralyzes the city, it does make it complicated. You can’t do the things you had set out to do because the president is in town."

The officers at the scene had their hands tied and couldn't do anything about it. "As soon as we can, looks like the motorcade is coming through right about now," one LAPD officer said. "We’ll be able to open it up for traffic and first thing we'll try to get to will be an ambulance, but I can’t guarantee it will be."

This is just major suckage, and it's completely not anyone's fault. There are security measures in place to protect the president, and they must be followed.

That being said, it would be super cool if Obama made some sort of gesture for the mom and baby though. Maybe issue an executive order that pregnant women in labor shall be allowed to cross the street to the hospital so long as his motorcade isn't in sight yet. I know it sounds silly, but hey, it could be a cool PR thing, and it's not like it could hurt his ratings at this point.

Do you think it would be cool for Obama to reach out to this woman and her baby?
