Insane Amount of Cash Found in Las Vegas Cab -- Would You Return It?

las vegas cabSay you're driving along, minding your own business, when you take a glimpse in the back seat of your car and see a laptop bag full of money. A lot of money. Like, almost a quarter of a million dollars in cold, hard cash, just lying there. What would you do? Well, if you're a John Grisham character, you'd probably mumble something about growing up in the deep south, then hide the money from all your family members, only to discover later that they know all about the dough and are out to kill you. But if you're Las Vegas cab driver Adam Woldemariam, you hand over the cash. He released the $222,000 someone left in the back of his taxi to his cab's security company.

And then the guy who lost the money showed up.

It didn't take long for the forgetful rich dude to show up to cabbie headquarters in what I can only assume was a sweaty, frenzied panic akin to a chicken whose head was just chopped off, inquiring about his lost package. Lucky for this absent-minded bastard, all his money was there waiting for him in the laptop case he'd left it in.

The passenger said he'd won the cash at the casino and forgot it in the cab when he got out at the airport. D'oh. Lucky for him, Adam is a stand-up guy who knows the difference between right and wrong. For his trouble, the passenger gave Adam $2,000, which Adam says he's going to send home to his family in Ethiopia. Could this man be any nicer?

I don't know what the going percentage rate is for tipping someone who finds your $222,000, but less than 1 percent seems a little harsh. But hey, I guess it's better than nothing.

What would you do if you found $222,000 in the back of a cab?
