Veteran Loses Prosthetic Hand to Fish & Then Miraculously Gets It Back

fishing rodIt sounds like a subplot of an episode of Arrested Development, but what happened this Memorial Day weekend in Florida is anything but fake. Jack Wiseman, a wounded war vet, was participating in a fishing tournament when he got a big bite. As he tried to reel in the feisty fish, his prosthetic arm was popped loose and the fish pulled the rod, and his prosthetic hand, back out to sea.

"The hand snapped off the prosthetic device, still hooked to the rod, and the rod and the reel and the hand went down into the water," Wiseman said.

If you thought that's where the story ends, think again.

On another boat down current, a man got more than he bargained for when a big ol' fish latched on to his bait. When he reeled the sucker in, the man realized that the fish had a rod, a reel, and a hand attached to it. You can't make this stuff up.

Awesomely, he was able to meet up with Wiseman and return his hand. No word on what they ended up doing with the fish, but something tells me there was a deep fried feast complete with a side of beer battered fries, and revenge.

Best part is that everyone had a good laugh about this unbelievable situation. I guess when you're fishing and you loose a hand, there's not much else you can do except chuckle. And when a guy shows up holding your detached hand on the dock, you gotta just laugh for days.

Thanks go Wiseman for his service to our country, and to making my day. What a fantastic whale of a tale.

Can you believe this?
