Fake Justin Bieber Caught & Accused of Abusing Young Girl via Webcam

Lee Moir justin bieber impersonatorThere's nothing innately dangerous about your kid having Bieber fever, but judging from a recent incident, there are definitely creeps out there looking to take advantage of young Bieber fans. Authorities have arrested 34-year-old Lee Moir, of Toronto, Canada, who is charged with luring a child under 16, manufacturing child pornography, and extortion. He allegedly impersonated Justin Bieber in order to lure and then sexually abuse a 12-year-old New Jersey girl. Ugh!

Of course, given the distance, the Internet came into play. According to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, Moir initially posed as the pop star on Facebook. And that's how he met his victim and later allegedly enticed her to perform sex acts on her webcam ...

It's unclear if she still bought that he was Bieber at that point (maybe he could see her but she couldn't see him?). But at any rate, she complied with his wishes ... and later, ceased communication. And that's when the man threatened to harm her family and upload her recorded video to a porn site.

Agh, what a disturbing situation. Thankfully, after Toronto undercover police executed a To Catch a Predator-like sting, posing as a 14-year-old girl online, Moir was arrested. And as it turns out, he is believed to have been in contact with "many juvenile females" in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the Philippines using Facebook and ooVoo (video chat software) accounts, say authorities. FYI -- he went by the online names Lee Oneel, Lee Moir, YodaYoda01, and Justy.Beber1. Creep-y.

Obviously, this is a frightening glimpse at how child predators are using the Internet -- and oh, Justin Bieber, too! -- to track down and abuse their victims. We have to appreciate, though, that law enforcement authorities throughout the world seem to be taking cases like these seriously enough. That they're not just passing them off because they happen to occur over the Internet. Because it's blatantly clear that what likely happened here is as damaging to young women as any other form of sexual abuse.

How crazy is this case?!
