Amanda Knox Signs Book Deal for Unbelievable Sum

amanda knoxAmanda Knox just signed a book deal for -- are you ready for this? It's a doozy! She signed the book deal with HarperCollins for close to $4 million! The memoir will focus on Amanda's experiences in Italy: "Knox will give a full and unflinching account of the events that led to her arrest in Perugia and her struggles with the complexities of the Italian judicial system," the HarperCollins press release says.

We knew Amanda and her lawyer were working on a book deal. But wow, we didn't know it would go for this much money! I still agree that since she's been released and proven not guilty, she has every right to tell her story. And we really want to hear it. But that big $4 million deal does make me squirm just a little.

Yeah, f-o-u-r m-i-l-l-i-o-n d-o-l-l-a-r-s. This is going to make the Kercher family so angry! And probably hurt, too, unfortunately. People will say (again) that Amanda is exploiting an innocent young woman's death for her own gain.

But here's the thing -- she's not exploiting a death. Amanda is telling her story: What happened to her in that prison, and the ordeal of her trial. What kept her going? How did she keep from sinking in despair? How bad was it? And what did she learn from the whole experience?

We all wish none of this had ever happened. Wouldn't it be great if Amanda had just spent a few years in Italy, no one had been murdered, and she were living an ordinary life back in the U.S.? But that's not what happened -- and millions of people (including me) want to hear more from Amanda about what actually did happen.

Do you think you'll read Amanda Knox's memoir when it's published?
