Climate Change Propaganda Doesn't Belong In Schools

global warming hoaxIn light of the fact that global warming climate science is a made up hoax, many states are now forbidding teachers from teaching it as a cold, hard fact. They can still teach it, of course, but only as a theory, and they must present both sides of the issue.

Neela Banerjee reports in the LA Times:

Texas and Louisiana have introduced education standards that require educators to teach climate change denial as a valid scientific position. South Dakota and Utah passed resolutions denying climate change. Tennessee and Oklahoma also have introduced legislation to give climate change skeptics a place in the classroom.

I had to reread that paragraph and check whether I was in the op-ed section of the paper or not. Nope, that was in the science section. As a proud skeptic of man-caused climate change, I take exceptional offense to her condescension.

No one is denying that the climate changes. The earth warms up and cools down all the time … maybe you’ve heard of the ice age? It’s obviously warmed up since then, and despite the lack of woolly mammoths, it’s pretty safe to say the world is a better place now. A warm world grows lots of that delicious organic food we’re all supposed to be eating instead of Twinkies and Cheese Whiz.

What people are waking up to is the fact that there is absolutely no proof whatsoever that changes in the earth’s temperature have anything to do with us puny little humans. It is purely an unproven theory that has been taught as fact for too long, and parents aren’t going to take it anymore.

It’s curious that a group of people could believe in something so whole-heartedly and yet be unwilling to expose children to differing viewpoints. After all, if they’re correct, and humans are causing climate change with our evil hairspray and ridiculous SUVs, they have nothing to be afraid of. The facts should stand on their own, right?

Teach kids facts, teach them theories, teach them how to think and come to their own conclusions in light of all the evidence available to them. Don’t teach them propaganda.
