Watch a CafeMom Member Question the Republican Presidential Candidates!

Moms MatterTomorrow, I'll be flying to Des Moines, Iowa for the Thanksgiving Family Forum, a conversation with Rick Perry, Herman Cain, Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich, Michele Bachmann, and Rick Santorum about some of the issues that matter most to families.

Obviously, this is the kind of discussion that we at CafeMom wanted to see for ourselves -- that's why we asked you a few weeks ago what you'd ask the Republican presidential candidates at this forum, if you had the chance.

We picked one of you to fly to Iowa and put the question to the candidates live and in person!

And the winner is ...

CafeMom member UpSheRises!

We are really excited that she will be participating in this forum -- it's our first big event as part of Moms Matter 2012 coverage and it's just the first step in making sure your voices are heard by the presidential candidates.

We hope that all of you, regardless of your political affiliation, will tune in to the live Internet broadcast and cheer her on. This forum will be a good opportunity for you to find out how the Republican candidates would tackle the issues that matter most to you as a mom.

You can catch it on the web right here this Saturday, between 4 and 6 p.m., CST.

If you miss it, don't fret -- we'll be taping the debate and we'll have a full recap of what happened, and what she thought of the whole thing, up on this site on Monday.

While in Iowa, I'm going to be reporting on the debate and the candidates themselves. But we're going to have much more for you here on CafeMom than the usual political coverage that you see every day on network news.

We'll also be taking the time to focus in on Iowa's moms this weekend, to find out how they feel about the candidates and the current state of the economy. Iowa's all-important caucuses take place in just six weeks, giving us the first real indicator of which candidates have the best chance of securing the Republican nomination. So while the election still seems far away in many of your minds, it's all the talk right now in Iowa judging from the moms I've spoken with already on the phone. I can't wait to see what it's like for myself and report back to you.

Check in with me often for more Behind the Vote posts as I head to Iowa, and be sure and tune in to the forum on Saturday! I'll be checking in here as often as possible with updates on all that's happening.
