Judge Who Let Jerry Sandusky Off the Hook Should Be Ashamed of Herself

judge's gavelAfter he was charged with 40 counts of sexual abuse against children at his preliminary arraignment, Jerry Sandusky was freed on $100,000 unsecured bail. District Judge Leslie Dutchcot gave him the get-out-of-jail-free card, ruling that he wouldn't have to post ANY money at all, unless he was a total moron and failed to show up for court. Being that the State Attorney General's office requested a $500K bail and that Sandusky be required to wear an electronic leg monitor, it seems just a bit fishy that he's gotten off so easy so far, eh?

Turns out Judge Dutchcot was a volunteer for The Second Mile, a charity Sandusky founded. She's also donated up to $1K to the charity. Bingo! Sounds like someone was a liiiiiiittle too close to Sandusky to make an unbiased ruling!

It's shameful that she was even involved in the preliminary arraignment in the first place. She should have known better and removed herself from the situation. How dense can you be -- did she not think her ties to Sandusky would come up, being that the entire U.S. is watching as this whole thing goes down? Furthermore, if you let a guy like this -- who everyone wants to see get locked up for the rest of his pathetic life or get the death sentence -- get out without even having to post bail, don't you think you're gonna turn a few heads with that ruling?

Now we aren't just irate that Dutchcot let Sick Sandusky off the hook in a way, but we have reason to be disgusted that the judge handling his case was totally biased. Corruption exists on all levels of government, huh?

It sounds like the state really needs to intervene, or even the Fed, to make sure that the next judge presiding over Sandusky's trial is completely disconnected from all things State College. That person needs to be incredibly vetted. Because this isn't a joke. Someone accused of acts so vile must be brought to justice, so clearly, authorities need to find a judge capable of doing that.

Do you think that given her ties to Second Mile, Judge Dutchcot should have taken Sandusky's case?
