President Obama Knows What Americans Don't Want

obama leno tonight showDuring his three-day trip out to the Western states to fundraise for the coming election, President Obama appeared for the fourth time on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night. And in the midst of many hot topics, Leno was bold enough to broach a topic that's been buzzing just below the radar for far too long. Something that's been crippling our government for almost two years now. He asked Obama, "When Mitch McConnell says, 'Our goal is to make this guy a one-time [sic] president.' I mean, why -- does that anger you? How is that a goal?"

Ever since President Obama took the executive office we the people voted him into, the right side of the aisle has tried to block his every move, ultimately doing everything they could to paint him an ineffective leader. It's hard to argue with that when you've got the Republican Minority Leader in the Senate saying that the country's single most important objective is to prevent Obama's re-election!

Obama addressed Leno's question with amazing clarity about what we really want as Americans. Clarity that too many other politicians obviously lack, given their devastatingly dumpsville approval rating. The President responded:

Look, I think the things that folks across the country are most fed up with, whether you are a Democrat, Republican, Independent, is putting party ahead of country or putting the next election ahead of the next generation.

When you think of it in those terms, considering how Congress' decisions, or total indecision, rather, are handicapping not only us, but our children and their children, etc., the GOP's "one-term president" goal is absolutely maddening. I don't know how Obama keeps his cool when he knows, we know, and Republicans like McConnell should know we have some seriously big fish to fry TOGETHER. That the real task at hand is for us to get a grip on the things that will soon evade us and definitely future generations -- like a clean, livable environment or a quality education that can better ensure valuable job opportunities.

Even though it's been their delusional fantasy ever since Election Day 2008, booting Obama out of office is NOT the quick fix solution to our country's problems. What is: Putting country ahead of party, working as a team, and looking beyond the next election cycle.

What do you think about Obama's response to Jay Leno's question? How about Mitch McConnell and the GOP's "goal"?
