Foo Fighters Treat Homophobic Westboro Baptist Church Protesters to Free Concert (VIDEO)

foo fightersDave Grohl of the Foo Fighters is my dream man (don't let all those Alexander Skarsgard posts fool you), and what he did on Friday is the perfect example of why: The man knows how to fight fire with funny. And he's so damn good at it.

See, the super-tolerant, universally-accepting folks over at the Westboro Baptist Church decided to protest the Foo Fighters concert that night in Kansas City. Since it's not like the band's shows have a history of blowing up into riots, you're probably wondering why the church made this choice.

Well wonder no more, because the Westboro congregation released a statement prior to the protest that very plainly states their reasons:

"The entertainment industry is a microcosm of the people of this doomed nation: Hard-hearted, Hell-bound, and hedonistic to the max."

The statement goes on to explain that while celebrities should be using their fame to encourage "obedience to God," they instead choose to promote "fornication, adultery, idols, and fags."

Oh-kay.

Here's the part where the brilliance of Dave Grohl comes into play. Clearly you can't attempt a rational discussion with people whose level of irrationality borders on (or likely crosses into) insanity territory.

So the Foo Fighters went straight to where the protesters were holding signs bearing such slogans of Christian generosity as "God Hates Fags," set up a temporary stage on a flatbed truck, and launched into their country-fied foot-stomper "Keep It Clean (Hot Buns)" -- dressed in the same hilarious trucker get-ups they wear in the video for the song (beware: link NSFW!!!).

A lyrical sample:

Driving all night, got a hankerin' for somethin'/Think I'm in the mood for some hot man-muffins.

So you can see why this was the perfect song to get those idiots with the signs even more steamed. I bet you could really see the smoke coming out of their ears when Grohl invoked their main man:

God bless America, y'all! It takes all kinds; I don't care if you're black or white or purple or green, whether you're Pennsylvanian or Transylvanian, whether you're Lady Gaga or Lady Antebellum. Men loving women and women loving men and men loving men and women loving women -- you all know we like to watch that. But what I'd like to say is, God bless America, y'all!

When the people on the ground with the signs look more ridiculous than the guys on the trucks with fake beards singing in an exaggerated twang ... 'nuff said.

Well played, Dave Grohl. Well played.

Is this video the funniest thing you've ever seen??
