Bad Ass Woman Punches Bear to Save Her Dog

black bearHave you ever been so fed up or frustrated with a person or situation that you just snap and do something you could have never imagined actually doing? That's what happened when 22-year-old Brooke Collins of Alaska punched a bear in the nose to save her dog. Yes, she punched a freakin' bear with her bare fist. Can you say bad ass?

After letting her two dogs -- Fudge and Toki -- out in her backyard in Juneau, she saw a big old black bear picking up Fudge and "carrying her like a salmon." She told the Juneau Empire she was sick of the bear constantly creeping around her house, and had even taken pictures of it before. So when it took her dog, that was it. Some kind of mama bear instinct kicked in and she raced to the bear and punched him.

The bear was stunned, and when Collins's boyfriend ran after it -- after hearing screams -- it headed back toward the mountain from which it came. Little Fudgie amazingly only suffered minor injuries and officially has the best owner ever.

Stupid, dangerous, and insane? Absolutely. But how incredible. Even Collins said she can't believe she did what she did and would never do it again.

It was a stupid thing but I couldn't help it. I know you're not supposed to do that but I didn't want my dog to be killed. I wasn't in my right mind at the moment but I would never think of doing it again.

I don't have a dog, but I can't image taking on a bear to save one. I'd like to think I'd be that brave if it were one of my children or any human being, but good lord, it's a BEAR! I think I'd be running ... for help, of course.

Do you think you would be brave enough to punch a bear to save a dog ... or anyone or anything? What's the bravest thing you've ever surprised yourself by doing?
