Glenn Beck Thinks Norway Shooting Victims Are Creepy

Glenn Beck This week Glenn Beck served up some boneheaded comments on the Norway shooting, comparing the innocent teenagers who were shot by crazed gunman Anders Behring Breivik to Hitler's youth. Apparently Beck is one of the few Americans who can simultaneously twist his body so that his head is up his ass and his foot is in his mouth. Quite a feat! With talents like that, he'd make a great addition to the circus. Or Cirque du Soleil.

Oh, but it gets better. Beck's problem with the poor kids is the fact that they were attending a camp on the island of Utoya that's owned by the Norwegian Labor Party. His victim-blaming came out on his radio show:

There was a shooting at a political camp, which sounds a little like, you know, the Hitler youth. I mean, who does a camp for kids that's all about politics? Disturbing.

Well, since he asked, there are quite a few folks right here in the good old US of A who throw camps for kids that are all about politics. And some of them sound suspiciously like they'd get the Glenn Beck stamp of approval!

1. Earlier this month in Saginaw, Michigan, the Saginaw Tea Party, in association with the Saginaw Republican Party, held a Vacation Liberty School camp for kids that aimed to teach "about the impact faith had on both the founding fathers and the foundation of our nation.”

2. In Tampa, Florida this summer, kids are able to attend Tampa Liberty, a Tea Party-sponsored camp developed "to introduce kids ages 8 to 12 to principles that include 'America is good,' 'I believe in God,' and 'I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.'"

3. Camp American in Angola, Indiana is a place where teens learn to "recognize and refute false teachings and morally bankrupt philosophies now so prevalent in American culture," "discover the deception of evolution, the importance of purity and morals in a free society, and the pagan connection to the radical environmental movement," and of course, "that in order to restore America, we must return America to Christ."

Stand back. It's now time for Beck to remove that foot from his mouth, but I'm betting it will be pretty stinky ... considering where it's been.

Do you find his comments on the poor kids who were killed in Norway abhorrent? Would you send your child to a political camp?
