Protester Attacks Rupert Murdoch With Shaving Cream Pie (VIDEO)

rupert murdoch pieA parliamentary inquiry into the British phone-hacking scandal Tuesday was expected to be dramatic -- but not quite this dramatic. During the hearing a protester from the back of the room rushed at media mogul Rupert Murdoch, smacked him with a shaving cream pie, and allegedly said, "You are a greedy billionaire."

The only thing more unexpected than the pie attack was the reaction by Murdoch's 42-year-old wife, Wendi Deng (wearing pink), who jumped to her husband's defense. Take a look ...

Afterward, Labour Party MP Tom Watson told Murdoch, " ... your wife has a very good left hook." And, wow, I'd have to agree.

The protester has since been identified as Jonnie Marbles, a comedian and activist with UK Uncut, which protests corporate executives who avoid paying taxes (and, thus, explains his greedy billionaire statement). Twenty minutes prior, he actually hinted of the impending attack via Twitter:

It is a far better thing that I do now than I have ever done before. #splat.

Obviously, Murdoch isn't going to win any popularity contests these days, especially as more details of the hacking scandal come to light. Still, physical violence -- even in pie form -- is never the answer. Marbles has been arrested on suspicion of assault during a public meeting.

Thankfully, Murdoch was unharmed. Despite reports to the contrary, he was not hit in the face with the foam; rather, it spattered all over his suit jacket. After a brief pause for clean-up, the hearing resumed (without the suit jacket).
