Casey Anthony Fans Should Give Their Money to a Real Charity

casey anthonySaying that the decision the jury reached regarding Casey Anthony is controversial is the understatement of the century. The mere mention of the 25-year-old's name sends people into a tizzy, and, more often than not, results in an argument. We're a nation divided. Some (most) of us think she did it and got off astonishingly easy. Others are syphoning money into her bank account so she can buy eyeliner and premium chicken breasts.

Admirers of Anthony -- some as far as Canada -- have been sending checks to the Orange County inmate. As of Thursday, she had received $472.18, which is close to $200 more than she had the day of the verdict. The average inmate's bank account at Anthony's jail is around $36.

So, who are these people sending Casey Anthony money? And what is she doing with it?

According to Orange County Correction Department records, there have been at least 17 different donors since May, and they're typically males, ranging from ages 19 to late 50s. So far, Anthony has used the funds to buy deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, eyeliner, hair ties, premium chicken breasts, spicy peanuts, and jalapeño nacho cheese dip. Money well spent.

The main thing that's confusing to me isn't the fact that people actually "admire" Casey Anthony (although, I don't get that either -- killer or not, what is there to admire?), it's that these donors are giving their hard-earned money to her. If they're looking for a cause to donate to, why not give to the homeless, Planned Parenthood, their favorite presidential candidate? I can't, for the life of me, wrap my head around what would motivate someone to write a check out to "Casey Anthony" and put it in the mail. Who are these people? What motivates them? And don't they realize that she's already cost taxpayers a TON of money? Get your heads out of your you-know-where, people.

And if Anthony were smart, which we all know she isn't, she would be saving this money instead of spending it on makeup. Because she's going to need it. Texas Equusearch is suing her for more than $100,000 for the money they spent searching for her daughter, Caylee.
