Obama Trip to India to Eat, Pray, Love

I'm Outta Here!
President Obama heads to India this weekend
on his first visit to the nation since his election. The four-day event may look like a series of heads of state dinners, meetings with captains of industry, and visits to important sites to honor the dead, but don't let that pomp and circumstance fool you.

President Obama needs to get over his midterm election rejection. The only way a sensitive person in touch with his spiritual side can move on past this disaster is to follow Elizabeth Gilbert's lead and take some "me" time.

Allow me, Mr. President, as someone who has never read Eat, Pray, Love, to guide you on your journey back to wholeness as you traipse through India. Hey, at the very least, you'll get a book deal out of this.

First Stop -- Get Somber

I know you're scheduled to visit the Taj Hotel, the site of the horrific 26/11 terrorist attack that killed 173 people and wounded over 300 more, and I think that's important. No, you're not going to get that uplifting feeling that day. But pausing to ponder your own mortality, and that of your fellow man, is certainly a grounding exercise that will only serve you in your quest.

Next Stop -- Celebrate With the Children

Nice move heading to a Diwali celebration at a school immediately after that big downer. Nothing affirms life like a festival of lights and children. You're ready to pray.

Third Stop -- The Big Kahuna

Mahatma Gandhi's memorial! Perfect. This is where you'll get your prayer on. Repeat some especially relevant Gandhi quotes to get you lifted. I like, "Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes."

You've done it! Your trip to India is wildly successful, and now you can return to America, refreshed, renewed, and invigorated. Get ready to option your story! Who do you think will play you in the movie?
