Meet the Chicago Marathon Winner!

desiree davilaDesiree Davila -- the fourth fastest woman in America ever. What a title! Davila, who lives in Rochester Hills, Michigan, was the first place American woman in the Chicago Marathon just hours ago. I'm not sure where she stacks up against running legends like Marion Jones and Sanya Richards, but she's up there, for sure.

This girl can run. She placed fourth overall in 2:26:20, smashing her previous personal-best time by more than a minute. Last summer Davila -- who goes by the name Desi according to all the accolades pouring in on her running group's Facebook page, ran a 2:27:53 in taking 11th at the IAAF World Marathon Championships in Berlin, Germany.

I'd love to tell you more about the 27-year-old Davila, but there's not a whole lot to elaborate on, other than the fact that this. woman. just. runs. all. the. time. She's not married and doesn't have kids, but if she did, I bet she'd be the type to walk (run?) her kids to school every day.

Davila broke all kinds of records as a cross country runner for the Blue Devils when she was a student at Arizona State University. She's also competed in the Olympics and currently trains with the Hansons Brooks Distance Project, a post-college running organization that trains and develops runners for competing in the Olympics.

Rockford, Michigan native Jason Hartmann, 29, another professional runner, was the top male finishers in this morning's marathon. Hartmann, a six-time All-American at the University of Oregon, dreams of qualifying for the Olympics. He recently told Runner's World:

"You just never know when your time is up. You never know when you're like Forrest Gump and you just stop running. But I would definitely like to go through 2012 and then explore other aspects of my life, and put everything into something else the same way I've put everything into my running."

Two people who love what they do and get paid for it. Remember their names ... I'll bet we're going to hear a lot more about them in the coming weeks and months.
