Fatherhood.Gov Should Send Glenn Beck a Bottle of Nail Polish

fatherhood.gov siteWhere oh where have Glenn Beck's "family values" gone? The radio entertainer spent this afternoon bashing Fatherhood.gov, a site that was launched by the National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse (NRFC) in partnership with the US government.

According to the Fatherhood.gov site:

"The NRFC promotes and supports Responsible Fatherhood in an effort to advance the fatherhood movement, and support fathers and families. The long-term goals of the NRFC are to have its efforts help support the emergence of more well-functioning, economically independent families and stronger communities in line with the long term-goals of OFA -- family self sufficiency and economic independence."

The horror!

Worse, the NRFC airs PSAs like the one below to give dads the message that "the smallest moments can have the biggest impact on a child's life."

Research shows that the lack of a father in the home correlates closely with crime, educational and emotional problems, teenage pregnancy, and drug and alcohol abuse. The Fatherhood.gov site offers parenting tips, resources, and more. I don't see the downside to any of this.

Oh, and by the way, Fatherhood.gov was started under President Bush. At that time, the site was called The National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse.

I wonder if Glenn Beck ever let his daughter give him a manicure? He ought to try it sometime.
