Parts of Times Square have been evacuated due to a suspicious cooler left in front of the Marriott Marquis at 45th and Broadway -- the same spot as last week's car bomb. This story is developing, so there is no word yet if this is a bomb or something innocuous.

The following streets are closed, according to CNN:

  • East bound on 46th Street from 8th Ave
  • West bound on 45th Street from 6th Ave.
  • And the Broadway and 7th Avenue plaza between 44th and 47th.
  • 44th and 47th Streets themselves are not closed.

My husband and I both used to work at 45th and Broadway, one of the most populated areas in a city that is already packed to the gills.

I'll be watching this threat, and will update as more information becomes available.

Are you in Times Square? Do you know what's happening right now?

An all-clear was given in Times Square. Apparently there are water bottles in the cooler. Hmmm. Overreaction? Or do you appreciate the attention being paid to potential threats?
