Derek Dillard's Latest Controversial Stance Is One We Can Actually Get Behind
derickdillard/InstagramFor years now, Jill Duggar's husband, Derick Dillard, has been one to stir up controversy, but this time, we actually agree with him. On Wednesday, Derick shared a flu shot photo on Instagram, encouraging his followers to get vaccinated, and a lot of people weren't impressed.
Derick showed off his bandaged arm after getting his shot:
"Got my flu shot for the season! Go out and get yours if you haven't yet, and try to stay healthy this year," the former Counting On star wrote.
Yep, we can definitely get on board with this -- but apparently, many of his followers felt differently.
People are nothaving it.
This is a true range of anti-vax responses -- people who think he should have read the ingredients, suggesting that people take vitamins instead of shots ... it goes on and on.
Here and there, people did agree with Derick's choice, but an overwhelming number of people really, passionately didn't.
Some even suggested government conspiracy -- and that the flu shot gave them the flu.
Well, this is a lot to take in.
We totally get that people have a lot of feelings on the topic of vaccinations -- it's one of those topics that can quickly turn the conversation ugly. But we're happy to see that Derick's taking steps to keep not only him and his family healthy, but everyone else who can't get vaccinated healthy, too.
Good for Derick -- this is the stuff we like to see.
We'll admit that Derick has said some pretty out there stuff in the past, but this is not one of them. Hopefully, this will continue to push the conversation about how important vaccines are forward ... it's really so important.
