With Christmas quickly approaching, kiddos are working on finalizing those important wish lists. But after they add the finishing touches, it's up to the postal system and trust for the letter not only to get to the North Pole in time but also for Mr. Claus to personally read their note. The best way to reassure your little ones and add some memorable Christmas magic this year? A personal response from Santa postmarked from the North Pole.

Santa's helpers at the Anchorage post office make this possible, and the process is easier (and more adorable!) than many realize. Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Have your little one write a letter to Santa and address the envelop to "Santa Claus, North Pole."
  2. Later, secretly open the envelop without your kiddo knowing and write a personalized reply to your child from Santa.
  3. Put the response in an envelop addressed to your child with a First-Class Mail stamp and the return address: "Santa, North Pole."
  4. Place the the completed envelop with the response into a larger envelop with the appropriate postage.
  5. Address it to:
    North Pole Postmark Postmaster
    4141 Postmark Drive
    Anchorage, AK 99530-9998
  6. Get it in the mail ASAP!

For a truly magical feel, write Santa's response on the back of your kids' letters so they can remember what they originally wrote when they get Santa's response. They'll feel even more special that way after being able to see how personalized his letter was. "When responding as Santa, make the response as personal as possible by highlighting your child's accomplishments over the past year, for example, helping around the house, receiving good grades in a particular subject at school, or participating in community service activities," USPS also recommends.

Don't wait if you want your little ones to have this special piece of mail waiting for them this holiday season -- only letters received by the Anchorage, AK, postmaster by December 15 will be mailed back with the North Pole postage.

It truly is the most wonderful time of year!
