Naming your child is one of the most important things you'll ever do. Naturally, parents tend to put a lot of time and thought into it, combing through online lists and even waiting weeks after their baby is born before giving them official names. Most of the time, babies come out of the experience with fantastic names. Other times, not so much. A UK woman is furious after one of her friends apparently named his baby Tinkerbell -- and the Internet isn't sure how to feel.

In a recent thread on Mumsnet, a UK parenting message board, one user wrote, "I want to shoot my friend ... for naming his daughter Tinkerbell."

Whoa, calm down there.

The user, who goes by the screen name liverbird10, continued, "I feel so sorry for the poor kid. She's going to go through torture at school. Not to mention the rest of her life. Could you imagine a high court judge called Tinkerbell?"

The user didn't share any insight into why her friend chose this name for his daughter, only mentioning later in the thread that he "has an obsession with fictional faeries."

Much like Apple, Neveah, and the fabled ABCDE, the name has people divided. Many of the users who commented in the thread are in full agreement with the original poster's opinion that "Tinkerbell" is an utterly ridiculous name for a child.

But a few people in the thread were a lot more supportive of the parents' choice to name their child whatever they wanted.

For what it's worth, the original poster did mention that the couple has been referring to the child as "Tinks" and "The Tinkster," which means, at the very least, this baby will have the coolest childhood nicknames ever.
