Breast milk culinary treats are a lot like this year’s kale. Everywhere you turn, it seems, a proud breastfeeding momma is showing off homemade "lactation lasagna" or breast milk chai latte cupcakes recipes. Depending on your feelings, you either find this trend totally fascinating or utterly repulsive.

Our thoughts and feelings are irrelevant, though, because the treats keep coming!

One Reddit user recently shared a photo of some butter she made using her breast milk. As someone who nursed and found it extremely difficult to pump more than two ounces at a time, I commend her for sacrificing even a teaspoon of her precious breast milk to make something as dispensable as -- eck -- butter. But other Reddit users didn't hold back and had a lot to say about this woman's final product.

You can tell "WhatMichelleDoes," as she is known on Reddit, felt proud of her cooking accomplishment. She documented the entire butter-making process on her page and posted the final result, along with the message, "The final product! Butter that I made without ever leaving my house! Pretty cool."

And she's right -- it is pretty darn cool that you can make butter using your body. Whether it's edible or not is up for debate. Personally, I can't imagine eating a food that contains something as personal as another woman's breast milk. I don't think I could eat my own breast milk, but I'm not sure if that's just because I don't like the taste or consistency of milk, period. Still, I realize it has amazing health benefits, so maybe it's just a matter of getting used to the idea of eating foods made out of BM.

Anyway, here's what some Reddit users had to say:

"Well this ruined my day."

"One of these days my fingers will listen to my brain and not click."

"omg I just threw up a little in my mouth."

To be fair, there were just as many users who expressed shock, like good shock, at this post. Supportive posts included:

"That's just fantastic. Did you salt it? What did you eat it with?"

And:

"Looks like it probably wasn't high enough in fat? You'll have to try again with mostly hindmilk. That might work :)"

For the record, "WhatMichelleDoes" says her creation was the "sweetest, creamiest butter" she ever tasted. Another user confessed that she, too, made butter with her breast milk and secretly put it in her cupcake recipe. Um, then she says she gave a cupcake to her husband but didn't mention what was in it.

That just doesn't seem right to me.

What do you think about all of these breast milk recipes? Would you eat a food made from breast milk?
