Little Tikes Recalls Over 500,000 Toddler Swings After Injury Reports

Moms and dads have certain go-to items that help them on their parenting journeys -- including those awesome playthings that can help ward off tantrums from little ones. Sadly, it looks like one of those popular playthings could pose a risk to kids. Little Tikes is recalling 540,000 2-in-1 Snug 'n Secure play swings amid concerns that they pose a falling hazard to children.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published the announcement on its website and notes there have been 140 reports of this Little Tikes swing breaking -- including 39 incidents with child injuries (like abrasions, bruises, and cuts) and two incidents resulting in a broken arm.

Here's what parents need to know:

1. The Little Tikes 2-in-1 Snug 'n Secure pink toddler swing recall comes amid reports that the plastic seat can crack -- or worse, break completely -- leaving small children in a potentially dangerous situation. The US-based children's product manufacturer notes approximately 540,000 units are included in the recall.

2. Pink toddler swings with the model number 615573 that have a pink T-shaped restraint and were manufactured between November 2009 and May 2013 are being recalled. This recall affects swings sold both in stores and online from November 2009 through May 2014.

You can find both the model number and the manufacturing date on the back of the seat.

3. The CPSC website notes swing seats with the date code stamp pointing to "10," "11," "12," or "13" on the INNER arrow are included in the recall. Little Tikes 2-in-1 Snug 'n Secure pink toddler swings with a "9" date code stamp on the INNER arrow that have a "43" or higher number stamped on the OUTER arrow are also included in the recall.

4. Customers with an affected Little Tikes 2-in-1 Snug 'n Secure pink swing are advised to immediately stop using the product and contact the manufacturer for a refund, which will serve as a credit for another Little Tikes item.
