Pregnancy is a beautiful journey that awakens a strength inside of you that can be hard to put into words. That's one of the reasons why we're awestruck by these amazing photos of Lauren Ferris, a badass expectant mom showing off her CrossFit skills at 35 weeks -- proving you don't need a cape to flex your superpowers.
JoAnn Marrero, owner of From Labor to Love photography, captured these stunning photos of Lauren in all of her glory. Expecting her second son February 25 (Lauren and her husband Garrett have a 2-year-old boy named Connor), this mom did a photo shoot that demonstrates beauty, strength, and a relentless ferocity that comes with being a mom.

In case you can't tell, Lauren is a fan of CrossFit and has been an active participant for many years -- even enjoying the fitness regimen while pregnant with her first son. CrossFit is something Lauren and her husband love to do, and they even bring their 2-year-old son along for the ride.

"[Lauren] and her family live a healthy, fit life," Marrero tells CafeMom. "She loves going to CrossFit and brings her toddler with her on the special days when they let all the kids have fun in the gym."
Lauren does her intense workouts with the blessing of her midwife and makes all the necessary changes to her regimen. "She obviously modifies her 'pregnant workouts' to fit her growing body," Marrero reveals. "[Lauren's] husband Garrett is always there to make sure she keeps safe, as well as the owners of [the CrossFit gym]."

JoAnn first met Lauren back in 2014 when JoAnn photographed the birth of her son Connor, and the pair have since become friends. JoAnn hopes Lauren's photo shoot captures both the essence of this incredible mom and the wonders of pregnancy.

"I want other people to see the raw beauty in being pregnant and how helpful it is to stay in shape -- not only for wellness but for stress relief [and] hormonal changes," says Marrero. "Lauren had a wonderful natural birth [during her first pregnancy], [and] she attributes that to staying fit and healthy throughout her pregnancy."
JoAnn's photos of Lauren are amazing -- and so freaking inspiring. Seeing Lauren as an expectant mother in action brings back memories of working out while I was pregnant with each of my boys. I always thought it wasn't possible until I did it (obviously with the thumbs-up from my doctor).
Hopefully Lauren's shoot will help break down barriers and common misconceptions about being pregnant and reiterate the power inside every mother-to-be.
