We've all heard about how real the struggle is to sleep with a new baby. There are tons of sleepless nights that, thankfully, tend to go away over time (a lot of time). And as crazy and as tiresome as these moments can be, it's pretty cool to look back on the early days and see how far your child has come. Reddit user andrew_elliott is a dad who created a stunning visual of his daughter's sleep patterns during the first four months of her life. It's truly a work of art.

Following a 24-hour clock format, each rotation of the spiral represents a day of baby girl's life (the top of each revolution signifies midnight), with the innermost portion being the day she was born. The yellow lines indicate the times his daughter was awake and the blue when she was asleep.

Wow, this is pretty impressive!

You definitely have to give this father, an industrial designer, an "A" for effort (and creativity), as this visual documentation of his daughter's first several months (she's now 19 months) is extremely detailed -- and breathtaking, too.

Dad says he created the visual by using the data he collected from his and his wife's phones (they used the Baby Connect app) to write a script in a program that enabled him to make this masterpiece. And just in case you're wondering, Dad plans to use this sleep pattern spiral as the backing of an actual clock for his little girl's room.

(Aww.)

"I was recording her sleeping times because, as a first-time parent, I thought I would do whatever it took to keep her alive (so far so good)," Dad explains on Reddit. "And then after I accumulated so much data and discovered that it could all be exported out of the app I was using, I figured it should be visualised somewhere," he continues.

Looking at this diagram reminds me of the earlier days in my boys' lives and how much I don't miss waking up every so often. Don't get me wrong, I love my kids (dearly), but man, those were trying times. (Thank God, it gets easier!)
