Hatchimals Are Coming to Target & Moms Are Already Planning to Camp Out

Hatchimals are slated to hit Target shelves December 11, 2016

The Hatchimals are coming! The Hatchimals are coming! Christmas will arrive early for some moms and dads who are still on the hunt for this must-have toy of the year. Target's announcement that it'll have Hatchimals on its shelves very soon should make all parents in a frenzy to find one extremely happy. You just better get your butt in gear to make a plan to score one, as people are already thinking about camping out to get their hands on a Hatchimal. (Yes, for reals!)

Target recently released a statement notifying customers that stores nationwide will receive Hatchimal shipments available for purchase beginning this Sunday, December 11.

"Starting this Sunday, Dec. 11, Target stores across the country will begin to receive dozens of Hatchimals ($59.99), with inventory popping up throughout the week. You'll need to be quick to scoop these up (limit two per guest) while supplies last, so be sure to check your local store," the statement reads.

(There's no mention on whether or not Hatchimals will become available for purchase online.)

As you can imagine, the news that Target stores are getting Hatchimals spread like wildfire, with parents ecstatic at the thought of purchasing one of these furry hatching toys.

According to a comment left by Target, it's a good idea to call your local store and check on their stock before you head into the fray. "Stores will be receiving inventory beginning this Sunday and through next week, so keep checking in at your local store," the official account replied to a commenter.

Speaking of the fray ... some people are considering getting in line starting Saturday night...

One family is even contemplating camping outside of Target just to ensure they'll be one of the lucky ones to get a Hatchimal.

Although you'll likely catch me inside of a Target store each week -- as I hear my husband scream "We don't need another damn $3 item from the front of the store!" in my head -- I will not be one of the parents hoping to scoop a Hatchimal. (You can have mine.)

They're cute playthings, but I know my 2½- and 1½-year old boys will lose interest too fast and too soon.

I truly hope moms and dads who have their hearts set on purchasing a Hatchimal are able to get one this time around. And if not, at least there are things to help "soften the blow," like these Santa Claus apology letters for not getting a Hatchimal.

So I bid those heading to Target the best of luck.

May the odds be ever in your favor.

Just don't trample or kill anyone. It's not worth it.
