2-Year-Old 'Breastfeeds' Her Baby Doll & People Lose Their Damn Minds

Little girl hugging a doll. Nursing concept.

We can all agree that kids imitate what they see their parents doing. Whether trying on Mom's high heels, trying to cook or clean the house, or repeating words we hoped to God they wouldn't hear, it happens -- and it's normal. This makes you wonder why people are flipping out over a 2-year-old girl "breastfeeding" her doll baby.

Even if you happen to have a major issue with public breastfeeding, no mother -- including this one -- deserves to be told she needs to be "punched in the damn face." Not over this.

While out at a store, 2-year-old Charlotte told her mom that her doll was hungry and proceeded to nurse her.

Do you see something wrong with this?

As Mom explains on the Breastfeeding Mama Talk's Facebook page:

Breastfeeding is something that is natural and IS normal. A baby putting a bottle to its doll's mouth, they are feeding their baby doll, correct? There's no difference. I do not feel the need to correct Charlotte because breastfeeding is wrong? She said her baby wanted to eat, so she fed her. Charlotte says she wants to eat, in public or not, I nurse.

While I can understand how the sight of a tot lifting up her shirt in public might gain some eyeballs, I'm really trying to understand why people think cursing out this mother is justified.

Is a child's imitating a nursing mother really that bad, especially when this 2-year-old is still breastfeeding herself? Seeing as we wouldn't bat an eye if Charlotte was using a fake bottle (Mom says her daughter has only known the breast, so the chances of this 2-year-old's opting for a toy bottle are pretty slim), I really think we need to reexamine that whole normalizing-breastfeeding issue that continues to plague our society.

It shouldn't be a big deal, and it's sad that we're making this out to be some huge thing. No crime was committed here. (Not that it matters, but public breastfeeding is legal.)

I commend this mother for not giving Charlotte any hints that there's something wrong with breastfeeding. After all, this tot is just playing with her doll and has many years to decide whether or not she'll choose to nurse her own kids or take the bottle route.

This tot wasn't doing anything sexual with her doll, so let's stop shaming this mother as if she's teaching her child to do something dirty.
