Teen Invites His Terminally Ill Mom to Be His Prom Date

teens asks terminally-ill mom to promGrab your tissues for this incredibly moving story. Seventeen-year-old Dylan Huffaker invited his terminally ill mom to escort him to his high school prom when both sadly realized she probably won't be there to dance with him on his wedding day.

The teen told ABC News he knew that in asking his mom, Kerry, he'd always be able to look back and know that he went to his prom with someone he loved. Awww!

Even his "promposal" was sweet and thoughtful. Dylan visited the treatment center where his mom, who was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer in February, was receiving radiation and brought a box of donuts which spelled out: "Will you go to prom with me?"

While Kerry was honored, like any caring mom, she put her son's happiness ahead of her own and told ABC her initial reaction was:

'You don't want to go to prom with your old, bald mom. You'll be embarrassed.' And he said, 'No I won't. I'll have the prettiest date there.'

(We warned you about the tissues!)

As if this story could get any more lovely, the DJ cleared the dance floor so Dylan and Kerry could enjoy a special song together. The mom and son took a turn around to high school gym to "The Dance" by Garth Brooks together.

He's so solicitous of her, you can feel their bond through the photographs.

Even as this mom is facing a devastating illness, she has to feel wonderful knowing how much she's loved and that she's done an amazing job raising such a kind and compassionate son who already knows so much about love.
