Mom Makes Life-Size Yarn Replica of Her Son & the Internet Doesn't Know What to Think (PHOTOS)

Mom creates life-size yarn replica of son to cuddle

Being a parent might last for a lifetime, but kids showing constant affection? Yeah, not so much. Marieke Voorsluijs knows firsthand what it's like to have a child not want to cuddle with Mom anymore. The Netherlands designer and knitter decided to take matters into her own hands, and thus, she created a life-size yarn replica of her son.

"I am a professional knitter who likes to knit weird things ..."

While the thought of a mother knitting a doll in her son's image to snuggle might seem odd to some, for Marieke, it was a creative challenge. Co-owner of Club Geluk, a handmade destination for vintage and quirky finds, she didn't think twice about making a replica of her boy (as it turns out, the doll favors both of her sons).

After all, he's getting older, and probably thinks he's too cool for Mom's hugs and kisses.

Wow, this is some serious crafting right here! As Marieke explains on Bored Panda, her "knitted son" has a full ensemble -- including a knitted hat, pants, and a sweater.

And just in case you're wondering, Marieke's oldest child and muse approves of his faux twin. In fact, he helped his mother make it.

Sooo ... when I first heard about this -- and saw the pictures -- I thought to myself, Wow, this is, um, pretty interesting. It's not every day that you hear about a parent -- who desperately wants to love on his or her child -- make such a creative alternative.

I can definitely see how this could score a 10 on the creep-o-meter, but I don't think that was Marieke's intention. And honestly, I don't think she cares what anyone thinks.

If you ever look at the items Marieke makes on Club Geluk, you'll quickly realize they're very avant-garde. Hamburgers. Wine and cheese display. Slab of ham. Most, if not all, of her yarn masterpieces aren't normal items you would expect to see.

Forget tea cozies; Marieke ain't got time for that.

In the past, I've joked about looking for ways to have my husband legally stuffed in the event he passes away -- so I could cuddle him (obviously I'm joking). I can have a twisted sense of humor at times, and I can see why Mom would make something like this. Doesn't mean I would do it, but I get how she feels.

Kids grow up super fast. One day, they're your little snuggle bun, and the next, they refuse to give you a kiss when you drop them off at school.
