Dad's Sweet Tattoo in Honor of Deaf Daughter Goes Viral (PHOTO)

Parents will always go the distance to make sure their child feels loved and accepted. New Zealand dad Alistair Campbell wanted to make sure his daughter Charlotte felt extra special by getting a tattoo of his little girl's cochlear implant on his head. With no other tattoos on his body, Alistair wanted to make a public declaration of love for his 6-year-old daughter.

Charlotte has struggled with hearing for many years, which made her behavior less interactive. With her first cochlear implant at age 4, she went from someone "who wouldn't talk to anybody to pretty much [being] a social butterfly," Anita, Charlotte's mom, tells The New Zealand Herald. Having a cochlear implant, a surgically implanted hearing device for those with extreme loss of hearing, can only enhance young Charlotte's life. (Charlotte just had a second implant recently.) While her family doesn't think Charlotte can fully grasp the reasons why her dad got the tattoo, she does think it's rather "cool."

I don't know about you, but I LOVE hearing stories like this. Sure there are those who might think a head tattoo is a wee bit extreme, but it's not like he can't grow back his hair. People get tats all the time and for different reasons. At least this has a sweet significance his daughter will eventually understand.

Many families have been known to show their support of loved ones in different ways. Whether they honor a child who died of cancer by walking across the country or celebrate the memory of a father with balloons, there's always some extra step you can take to let someone know how much they mean to you, even in passing.

Honestly, stories like this are a breath of fresh air from all the negativity. It's great to know a gesture of love is being spread across the world.
