4-Year-Old Sneaks Out of House at 3AM to Get a Slushie (VIDEO)

There are so many things that could have happened to 4-year-old Annabelle Ridgeway of Northeast Philadelphia when she managed to sneak out of her home to get a slushie at 3 a.m. She was all alone on the dark streets, and even crossed a major road. But what ended up happening was a beautiful display of strangers -- good Samaritans -- coming together to help to safety.

Annabelle apparently woke up in the night on Friday and was determined to get herself to the Wawa for a slushie. Quite an independent thinking little one. She put on her boots and coat and managed to walk out the door without her parents realizing she left. It was nearly 3 a.m. and her parents Jaclyn Mager and Timothy Ridgeway were asleep.

A man who has yet to be identified but deserves recognition for his potentially life-saving actions saw Annabelle walking all alone on the dark streets. He flagged down a SEPTA bus that was approaching so the driver could call authorities in order to help locate her parents. Seeing little Annabelle step on that bus brought a smile to my face. Thank goodness these strangers came together -- we are all well aware of what could have happened here due to the horrific stories we hear about children who have gone missing after wandering off. But this has an incredibly happy ending.

The bus driver, Harlan Jenifer couldn't believe his eyes when the little girl got on his bus. "All I want is a slushie, that's all she said!" he shared. What a darling little girl who really knows how to scare the living daylights out of her parents! Still, I can't help but love her. Jenifer called the police who located Annabelle's parents within an hour and got her home safely but without the slushie she really wanted.

When the family was interviewed, they spoke with tears of gratitude in their eyes, thankful for the people who came together to help their child to safety. Annabelle asked her mom, "Can you take me to Wawa and get me a slushie?" Her mom said yes, but added, "... promise me next time you'll wait for me, okay?" She agreed. And the parents are also securing their door better so Annabelle doesn't sneak out again.

Maybe I'm a pushover, but I just can't get mad at this kid. First offense. She's only 4.

Has your child ever done anything like this?
