9-Year-Old Takes Mom's Car on Joyride So He Doesn't Have to Go to School

boy steals mom's carHow far would your child go to get out of going to school? One third grader in Florida allegedly stole his mother's car to avoid going to school for the day.

Authorities have charged the 9-year-old with aggravated assault and grand theft auto after he threw a brick at his mother and grandmother and stole his mother's car keys. He managed to drive the car for 45 minutes before police were able to pull him over.

No one was hurt during the little road trip and the boy was arrested quickly after police stopped the car. Police have even said that the boy was a surprisingly good driver. Now that's just scary! And, OK, a little impressive.

I remember those days when I would beg my mom to let me stay home. Option one was always to blow dry my forehead and fake a fever. Option two was to hide her keys. Obviously, it never worked, but this 9-year-old took it to a whole new level.

For now, he can count himself lucky that no one was hurt during his circuit, but might he have a future career in race car driving?

And moms, a bit of advice? Lock up your keys!

What's the craziest thing your child has done to avoid going to school?
