Deaf Toddler's Reaction to Hearing Dad's Voice for First Time Is Priceless (VIDEO)

grayson clampAs parents, we want to do everything possible to make sure our children have the best life possible. For Len and Nicole Clamp, that meant giving their 3-year-old son Grayson the ability to hear. He was born without the cochlear nerves that allow humans to hear, but when a cochlear implant failed, the Clamps didn't give up. Grayson would become the first child in the United States to get an experimental procedure called an auditory brain stem implant. It worked. Watch the amazing moment when this loving, cute little boy hears for the first time. It's amazing.

The look on his face is priceless. He is discovering something new, something he had never experienced before. Sound. The sound of his dad. The sound of papers rustling. His own little mummers and grunts. Take a look:

To achieve this miracle, doctors at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, North Carolina implanted a microchip in his brain that will help him recognize sound. It's a big change for Grayson, but his mother Nicole is cautious about expectations. "We don't know exactly what it's like for him," she said. "We don't know exactly what he hears. His brain is still trying to organize itself to use sound."

Though, by the look on his face, the device seems to be working. What a wonderful gift for this precioius child and his family.

What do you think of the moment Grayson first hear sound?
