Baby With Rare Disease Needs Life-Saving Treatment & You Can Help (VIDEO)

Casen Buswell

At the end of the day, all any mom really wants in life is for her children to be happy and healthy. And that's why you can only imagine how devastated Jenna Buswell was when she learned that her 7-month-old son, Casen, is suffering from a rare disease called glomuvenous malformations plaque type.

Little Casen is only one of 14 people in the entire world who have been diagnosed with the illness, which hinders his breathing and causes his blood vessels, skin, and muscles to harden. If he doesn't receive treatment soon, things are only going to go downhill for this poor baby boy. As it turns out, there is a life-saving treatment available that will help Casen -- but it will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and is only administered in Belgium.

And it's not the medical expense alone that will be so costly, it's the fact that Casen will have to receive laser treatments every month, possibly for three years, so odds are good that the family will have to move to Belgium if there is going to be any hope of saving his life.

Thankfully, there are people who have been kind enough to help raise money for the family. One man, who had never even met the Buswells, was so touched by Casen's story that he raffled off his 1957 Chevy Bel Air, which brought in $11,000. And what's even more heartwarming is that the woman who won the car donated it again in a second raffle, and plans on giving the money to the family.

But while every little bit helps, the Buswells still have a long way to go to make their move to Belgium possible.

As a mother, I can't even imagine how torturous it must be to know that there's a treatment that can help your child -- but that you're unable to afford it. Though it's not always easy to accept financial help from others, this is one scenario where any parent has to swallow their pride and be grateful for any donations that come in -- no matter how large or small.

If this were my baby, I'd do everything in my power to spread the word and ask people to help -- and I'm sure Casen's parents feel the same way. Donations can be made on this website that has been set up for Casen -- please make a contribution if you can. Perhaps if we all rally around this beautiful little boy, he can have a chance at the same kind of fulfilling and normal life that our own children do.

You can hear more about the donations made to Casen so far in this video clip.
