Whenever the subject of people suddenly getting a wave of superhuman strength in a scary situation is brought up, I feel like the same example is always given: Men have lifted up cars all by themselves in order to free a trapped baby/child/woman/man! We never hear: A skinny 22-year-old girl lifted up a BMW (which weighs a ton-and-a-half!) -- all by herself -- in order to free her trapped father! But we should. Because it does happen.

Alec Kornacki was outside working on his car when the jack slipped, causing the car to fall on top of him. His daughter, Lauren, who just happened to be leaving the house at the time, found her father unconscious underneath the BMW 525i, and did what any good daughter would do. She lifted up the car, "threw it" to the side, dragged her dad out, performed CPR, and saved his life.

Sometimes it's convenient to have a superhero for a child.

Alec is currently still in the ICU, but he's now walking and he's gotten the opportunity to thank his daughter for saving his life. After his other daughter, Liz, told their father what happened, tears filled his eyes and he expressed his gratitude. Alec has several broken ribs, fractures, and some numbness, but no permanent damage.

Alec's doctors didn't want him to speak on camera just yet, but he had this to say in a statement: "I'm just so lucky and proud that I have daughters that can perform CPR and have the knowledge to save lives. I think it's an important skill for everyone to know, and if it weren't for Lauren I would not be alive today."

So, if you haven't already, run don't walk to get CPR-certified, people! You might just save someone's life. That is, if you already know how to lift up BMWs, too.

Check out this video of Lauren explaining what happened:

How amazing is Lauren? Do you know CPR?
