Britney Spears' 3-Year-Old Niece Covers Sexy Song (VIDEO)

maddie spearsWho doesn't love a video of a cute toddler singing? Everyone does! Stupid question, I know. I was so excited when I came across this video of Britney Spears' three-year-old niece, Maddie, performing one of Auntie's newest hits, "Up 'N Down." Maddie, daughter of Brit's younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears, has all the makings of a pop star: She's got those Spears brown eyes, flowing golden hair, and a voice that will sound amazing when auto-tuned.

All kidding aside, the video is positively adorable, save for one thing. Should little Maddie really be singing about sex and candy like she's the youngest member of Marcy Playground?

I just think there are so many other Britney songs that might have been a smidge more appropriate for a three-year-old to cover. Like, say, "I'm Not a Girl" or "Sometimes" or "Born to Make You Happy." Those are so sweet! How cute would it be if Maddie sang one of the earlier Brit tunes that were so undeniabley cloying yet frustratingly catchy?

Instead Maddie was taught "Up 'n Down" and sang the lyrics:

The beat just dropped and the room got sexy/ You're watching me like there's no one else around/ Up and down, up and down, up and down.

Odd choice of a song to teach a toddler, no? Maybe Britney knew what she was doing though. After reading about Maddie's cover, naturally I was compelled to google Britney's version of "Up 'N Down" and listen to the song, which is yet to have a video. Brit's version already has close to a million hits on YouTube, as does Maddie's.

Are the Sisters Spears smarter than we thought? Using Maddie as a marketing tool could be their most ingenious/worst idea yet.

Either way, I don't think Maddie was in any way harmed, so that's good. I'm torn between thinking this video is really cute and thinking it crosses a line.
