Toddler Flushes Kittens: 12 Reasons Not to be Surprised

Toddlers do some crazy things, but flushing a kitten down the toilet might be one of the crazier ones I have ever heard. Nevertheless, a toddler in Australia did exactly that last week.

Three-year-old Alanna Merleto, three, had a habit of flushing things so when her mother Ammie asked her where their two-day-old kitten was was she feared the worst.

'Down the toilet,' the little girl replied, according to the Daily Mail.

The mother could hear the kitten crying in the pipes and was able to call in help to tear the house apart and rescue her. Amazingly, the kitten survived the ordeal, but it got me thinking, what are some of the crazy things toddlers do?

I asked around and received dozens of answers, from the silly to the crazy. Here are a dozen:

  1. My 3-year-old daughter one day picked up a rock and slammed into the car. "What are you doing?" I screamed. "Hammering," she answered calmly.
  2. My 2-year-old loved grapes dipped in ketchup.
  3. My young toddler used to insist that we run her binky under water each night before we put her to bed with it.
  4. I found mine eating dog food. Kibble stuff. She was hand feeding the dog: one for you, one for me, one for you, etc.
  5. My son and his friend killed a frog, buried it and peed on the burial site. horrifying.
  6. My 3-year-old covered, and I mean covered, the brand new LCD TV in diaper cream and proceeded to use it as a dry erase board.
  7. My 2-year-old chewed off her moose's tail...clear past the nub...gone
  8. As a toddler, I gave the dog my cookie and ate her entire bowl of dog food and I used to store food in my cheeks like a chipmunk.
  9. My toddlers love to run around nude screaming, "NAKED BUM!!!!"
  10. My 3-year-old drinks dirty bath water. We literally have to watch her like a hawk.
  11. My 2-year-old son uses his big sister's doll stroller to push a fire truck around.
  12. My 4-year-old insists on peeing in a tiny toddler toilet and always floods it out of the potty, but she will not use the big one at all.

If this sounds like you, do not feel alone! Dozens of other parents feel your pain.

Do your toddlers do weird things? What are they?
