The 16 New Christmas Movies Coming to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries

Hallmark Channel/Crown Media

Hallmark promised viewers 40 new Christmas movies this year, and 16 of those holiday movies will premiere on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel beginning in October. (The other 24 movies are over on the regular Hallmark Channel and will also start airing before Halloween.) The Hallmark Movies & Mysteries holiday event is called Miracles of Christmas, and it's particularly star-studded this year, featuring appearances from the likes of The Real's Tamera Mowry-Housley, Today Show host Kathie Lee Gifford, When Calls the Heart star Erin Krakow, singer Patti LaBelle, and more. One of the movies is even produced by country music star Blake Shelton.

While the Hallmark Countdown to Christmas schedule already has plot descriptions for most of its 24 new films, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is living up to its name. Many of the story lines for the 16 movies are still a mystery. The first premiere is still more than a month away, so it makes sense that the network may still be tooling with the official descriptions. Honestly, many of these movies usually follow the same series of tropes anyway, so viewers can likely tune in to any of them and expect roughly the same set of things to happen.

There's bound to be some plot line about a big-city gal who goes home and falls in love with a charming local. Christmas amnesia is always popular. Single parents finally finding love is a strong theme. Exes who reunite because of the holidays is also a standard plot.

When a network is pumping out 40 holiday-themed movies, there's only so much variation that one can expect. Still, we'll be tuning into as many movies as we can from the Miracles of Christmas full schedule with our comfiest pajamas, bowl of popcorn, and a Christmas-scented candle to enhance the mood.

'Tis the season.

  • 'A Merry Christmas Match'

    Premieres: October 25

According to the A Merry Christmas Match synopsis, Ashley Newbrough plays Corey, a gal who works at an antique shop in a small ski town. One day, Ryder, played by Kyle Dean Massey, comes into her store. He may have thought he was going antique shopping, but he may leave in love.

  • 'Nostalgic Christmas'

    Premieres: October 31

There's no description for this movie yet, but the cast list for Nostalgic Christmas has been announced. Drop Dead Diva star Brooke D'Orsay, and Sun Records star Trevor Donovan -- who, coincidentally, also appeared in a Drop Dead Diva episode -- are featured in this film. The title makes it seem like this will be a movie about reliving past Christmases, but who wants to bet the ultimate message of the movie will be to live in the moment with the one you love?

  • 'Two Turtle Doves'

    Premieres: November 1

Nikki DeLoach plays Dr. Sharon Hayes, a woman who returns to a small town during the holidays to retrieve a family heirloom. While there, she meets a single father (played by Michael Rady) and his sweet daughter. Hayes' search for a family heirloom could lead to her finding a whole new family of her own.

  • 'A Blue Ridge Mountain Christmas'

    Premieres: November 7

There's no synopsis for this movie, but the title gives away its setting. The Blue Ridge Mountains are in the eastern US, which should give the film a crisp, wintry vibe. A Blue Ridge Mountain Christmas features Psych star Rachael Leigh Cook, who's no stranger to Hallmark Christmas movies. Last year, she starred in the network's Frozen in Love. Playing opposite Cook is Suits star Benjamin Ayres. Both actors are also slated to appear in the holiday movie Christmas Bride this year as well.

  • 'Holiday for Heroes'

    Premieres: November 8

In Holiday for Heroes, Melissa Claire Egan plays Audrey who owns a small coffee shop, according to CBS Soaps in Depth. Audrey soon becomes pen pals with a soldier named Matt Evans (played by Marc Blucas). The two wrote love letters for over a year to each other, but will their love blossom when the finally get to meet in person?

  • 'A Christmas Miracle'

    Premieres: November 14

Not to be confused with another Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film named Once Upon a Christmas Miracle, this new film, A Christmas Miracle, stars Tamera Mowry-Housley, Brooks Darnell, and Barry Bostwick. There is no official description for the movie yet, but it promises to be uplifting with a title like that.

The last holiday movie Mowry-Housley was in was called Christmas Angel. It premiered back in 2012.

  • 'A Godwink Christmas: Meant For Love'

    Premieres: November 15

This movie is a sequel to the original called A Godwink Christmas. It will bring back Kathie Lee Gifford's character from the original, but the sequel also stars series newcomers Cindy Busby and Ben Hollingsworth. The first film was based on the Godwinks book series, and it's likely that the sequel will pull from the source material as well.

  • 'Sense, Sensibility & Snowmen'

    Premieres: November 21

When Calls the Heart star Erin Krakow plays party planner Ella in this movie. She and her sister, Marianne, are planning a party together for a toy company's CEO -- only he's not much into the Christmas spirit.

Leave it to Ella who will most likely give him a dose of holiday joy in the form of true love.

  • 'Our Christmas Love Song'

    Premieres: November 22

There isn't yet a description for Christmas Love Song as of yet, but it's set to star Alicia Witt. She recently played Zelda in Orange is the New Black, but she's no stranger to Hallmark's Christmas movies either. Witt has starred in Christmas on Honeysuckle Lane, The Mistletoe Inn, Christmas List, and so much more!

  • 'The Christmas Wish'

    Premieres: November 29

Ashley Williams and Paul Campbell star in this Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film, whose synopsis is also currently a mystery. The IMDb page for the movie says it's based on the book The Christmas Wish by Barbara Ankrum. The novel follows an event planner and a doctor who are unexpectedly thrown together to help a little girl have the Christmas of her dreams.

Viewers who tune in on November 29 may recognize Williams from How I Met Your Mother, where she played Ted's love interest, Victoria.

  • 'A Homecoming for the Holidays'

    Premieres: December 5

There's no synopsis for this movie yet, but the cast list has Laura Osnes and Stephen Huszar starring. Osnes is a Broadway star, having played such lead roles as Sandy in Grease, and Ella in Cinderella. Huszar is a holiday film regular, having also appeared in Hometown Holiday, Christmas Wedding Planner, Magical Christmas Ornaments, and more.

  • 'Time for You to Come Home for Christmas'

    Premieres: December 6

Country music superstar Blake Shelton is executive producing this movie, which is actually a follow-up film to Time for Me to Come Home for Christmas. According to Country Living, the 2018 movie was inspired by Shelton's life and the time he wrote a Christmas song with his mom. The outlet reports the sequel will have a new cast, but will probably re-use some of the same filming locations.

  • 'Christmas in Montana'

    Premieres: December 12

Aside from knowing that this movie takes place in Montana (since it's in the name and all), not much else is known about the film. There's no official description yet, but the lead cast includes Kellie Martin and Colin Ferguson. Martin is best known for playing Hailey Dean in the network's Hailey Dean Mystery series. Ferguson is also a Hallmark Movies & Mysteries staple actor. He played Mac Sullivan in the Fixer Upper Mystery series.

  • 'Angel Falls: A Novel Holiday'

    Premieres: December 13

It seems like Angel Falls: A Novel Holiday is a sequel to Christmas in Angel Falls. The first film's plot followed an angel sent to the town of Angel Falls to bring back its Christmas spirit. A Novel Holiday features a new cast (Jen Lilley and Carlo Marks), so it doesn't seem to be a direct sequel -- but it may take place in the same town of Angel Falls.

  • 'An Unforgettable Christmas'

    Premieres: December 19

This movie reportedly stars Twilight's Ashley Greene, according to Variety. The official movie plot isn't available yet, but it seems to have spawned a companion book of the same name that hits shelves on September 24 and is being published by Hallmark Publishing. If the movie and the book have the same plot, the story should follow widowed mother Angie Lopez who suddenly has to take care of her annoying boss when he comes down with amnesia. Something tells us that they'll find love along the way.
  • 'A Family Christmas Gift'

    Premieres: December 20

The final movie in the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Christmas lineup is A Family Christmas Gift. It stars 21 Jump Street's Holly Robinson Peete and Star Falls actor Dion Johnstone. Most notably, though, the movie also features singer Patti LaBelle in a yet-unnamed role. LaBelle is no stranger to the network's holiday movies as she appeared in the Hallmark film Christmas Everlasting just last year -- as well as Peete who is basically Hallmark royalty.
