We seem to live in an era where reboots and revivals are the way to go, and it looks like we have a scary childhood classic to throw into the mix. Word is a Witches remake is on the way that has fans of the original on the fence about welcoming the new project with open arms.

The Witches is a pretty dark movie about Luke Eveshim, a young boy who goes on vacation in Norway with his grandma Helga. During the trip, they encounter some women who are part of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children that's really a cover for a witches' convention to discuss how they can snatch kids on the down-low.

There's a potion, children, mice, and a showdown of showdowns in a fancy dining room that's all sorts of nasty.

"We're going to set it in the Gothic South in the 1960s and that's an exciting way to put a sociological spin on this kind of traditional witch story," Zemeckis recently revealed in an interview about The Witches remake. "So it's kind of an exciting idea."

And folks are still on the fence about the whole thing.

No disrespect, but stop messing with movies that we grew up on -- and kinda traumatized us in this case.

Judging by these comments, critics want '90s movies to remain in the '90s.

Anjelica Huston will always be the Grand High Witch.

Maybe we'll consider The Witches remake after we see a trailer. Still, we really need Hollywood to start coming up with original stories.
