This actress has revealed that her upcoming film will contain a small tribute to her mother, who no doubt inspired her career choice. Dakota Johnson says Fifty Shades Darker will feature an homage to Melanie Griffith. Wow, we can't help but wonder what that's going to look like!

While appearing on Today, the 27-year-old, who portrays Anastasia Steele in the films based on EL James's erotic trilogy, gave Hoda Kotb the scoop.

"There is a moment -- there is a little surprise moment especially for my mom in this movie," Johnson said. "I can't share it! I don't want to spoil it, but she won't ever see it. Maybe she'll see this one specific little clip."

Mysterious, right? Now, if you're Griffith you'd want to run right out and see the movie on opening night, which is February 10. (Not that anyone could possibly forget.)

But, perhaps Griffith will skip this one as well. Fans will recall there seemed to be a bit of tension between the mother-daughter duo on the red carpet in 2015 when Griffith said she didn't need to see Fifty Shades of Grey to know how good Johnson was in the film.

"All right! You don't have to see it," Johnson retorted. "Jesus Christ."

While it was a little awkward, moms can understand why Griffith might not be ready to see her darling daughter portray a young woman caught up in an affair with someone who has the, er, interests of Christian Grey.

So, if Griffith misses it, will fans at least be able to spot the tribute?

"Will people watching it understand it right when it happens?" Kotb asked.

"I think so," Johnson said. "I hope so."

Wow, now we really want to know what this is all about! If this is a way to get her mom to check out the film, it's pretty genius. What parent wouldn't want to know how their child has chosen to honor them? Can't wait to see if we spot and find out if Griffith did too.
